Why You Should Visit Josey Records, Texas' Largest Vinyl Store

Find your next vinyl at one of the largest record stores in the country! Spanning 25,000 square feet, you’ll find a massive collection of vinyl, 45s, CDs, tapes, posters, and band tees at Josey Records in Farmers Branch. It's a music lover’s paradise!

About Josey Records

Josey Records opened in 2014 but quickly grew into a Dallas favorite with regular live performances from artists and DJs in-store. Andre 3000 from OutKast even stopped by to check out their selection, according to owner Waric Cameron. The shop has a few other sister stores including Lubbock in West Texas as well as Tulsa, Kansas City, and Sedalia, Missouri.

In a Josey Records blog, co-owner Luke Sardello says physical media is in demand once again. “There is still so much music that is not available digitally…record stores preserve part of America’s musical history."

The duo preserves a little bit of Dallas history, too. Cameron and Sardello purchased the remaining collection from the well-known record shop owner, Bill Wisener after he passed in 2020. Wiesener opened his business Bill's Records back in the early 1980s, its success ran throughout the 90s and into the early 2000s.

"Bill understood how powerful music was and how it brought people together," Cameron shared with the Dallas Observer. "He passed that along to us as he was a mentor and father figure to us and many others around us."

The Selection

Whatever your style, you can find something to take home from Josey Records. I walked in unsure of what I wanted and found an unopened, limited edition Sam Cooke album for $23 bucks! Jazz, new wave, disco, and everything in between, it's all here!

As you walk in, you have the band merch and clothing to the left, followed by a small stage, and reading section. The center is where you will see rows of vinyl, on the right, there are the listening stations, a sitting area, and a DJ set. Customers can also find their favorite movie or music posters if they're willing to dig in a little! I saw one of Rob Lowe with a mullet!

I left Josey Records with a New Order 1987 white tee and, of course, my Sam Cooke vinyl.
