Why a Custom Ring is the Ultimate Souvenir: My Experience at Glänta Kyoto, Japan

When we travel, oftentimes, we want to bring back a piece of the place we visited. It's common to stop by a corner shop and see a wall full of keychains and magnets. And although there's nothing wrong with grabbing one of these, I’ve found that the best way to remember a journey is to invest in something you can actually use—or in this case, wear—every single day.

During my time in Japan, I skipped the typical souvenir shops and headed to Glänta, an accessory shop that makes picking out jewelry even more fun!

Customization at Glänta

Glänta has several locations across Japan (including Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Kyoto), and it is a must-visit for those who loves minimalist, meaningful style.

The process is incredibly seamless:

  1. Choose Your Base: You pick your ring size, material (like silver or brass), and thickness.

  2. Select Your Style: You can go for a smooth finish or a "hammered" texture for more character.

  3. Personalize It: They can engrave special dates, initials, or names (limited characters) to make it truly yours.

I decided on a 2mm silver hammered ring and had it engraved. The cost was roughly $35, which is an incredible price for a piece of jewelry that is customized right in front of you!

There is something so satisfying about watching the experts work on your piece. If you have more time, they even offer special workshops where you can go craft the ring yourself!

The Perfect Treasure

Every time I look down at my hand, I’m reminded of this once-in-a-lifetime experience in Kyoto with my special person. It’s a small, beautiful investment in a memory that doesn't take up space in my suitcase or clutter my home! I know I'll treasure it forever.
