Lisbon is incredible, it would be a disservice if you went to Portugal and didn’t see the beautiful city, but if you’re craving a little more coastal vibes, you don’t have to travel far. Less than 30 minutes outside the City of Seven Hills is Cascais, a vibrant town that boasts an impressive 17 beaches to explore.
This part of the trip was organized by EF Ultimate Break, a special travel agency that caters to those between 18-35. It was my second time booking with them because my first experience was nothing short of amazing. If you're interested in learning more and want to book, I have a special code for first timers that offers a discount (NicoleR100).

Getting There
While there are several ways to reach the coast, consider the time you have to spare. The quickest way? Grab an Uber or rideshare. It’s less than a 30-minute drive from central Lisbon and drops you right in the heart of the action. If you have a rental, be aware of limited parking in the central parts of town.
The more affordable option is the train: You can take the 40 minute train from Cais do Sodré Station, it departs every 20 minutes. Get to the station early to avoid long lines.
Sweet Treats
You can't visit Cascais without stopping at the legendary Gelados Santini. My tour guide, Sophie, insisted this was the best gelato she’d ever had—even compared to her trips to Italy! They offer 32 rotating flavors, including unique combinations you won't find anywhere else like:
Egg Jam with Pine Nuts
Green Apple
Salted Caramel Peanuts

You can choose to explore one or more of its 17 Beaches!
Praia das Avencas
Praia da Azarujinha
Praia da Bafureira
Praia da Conceição
Praia da Cresmina
Praia da Duquesa
Praia da Parede
Praia da Poça
Praia da Rainha
Praia da Ribeira de Cascais
Praia das Moitas
Praia de Carcavelos
Praia de S. Pedro do Estoril
Praia de Santa Marta
Praia do Abano
Praia do Tamariz
Praia do Guincho
Shopping and Hidden Treasures
Beyond the beach, the town is filled with boutiques and delicious seafood spots. If you’re lucky, you might stumble upon one of the local antique pop-up markets. These markets are perfect for finding a unique, one-of-a-kind souvenir. I prefer these kinds of gifts than a keychain or shot glass!
